Turn Signal Problems Grand Marquis

69. to 73.Day - The Fiji Bula Experience

Bula! Thus the traditional Bgerüssung in Fiji. Is very very hard and aggressive, but then there are a great smile! Besides the warm welcome I was at the airport also like Fiji with a song sung and played by guitar by four men in flowery shirts and shorts. Not even four years ago in Hawaii, where one would normally expect such a thing, I have experienced it. On the plane sat a Indi-Fijians next to me. In Fiji, there are two kinds of people, Indians and Polynesians. The Indians were lured more than a hundred years ago by the British after Fiji and they have been promised a small beach holiday. Instead, they had to toil hard and build the entire island. So it happened that the generations after, all were born in Fiji and stayed there. You have never seen India and it probably never will. They see themselves as all Fiji's population, have the nationality of Fiji, but everyone can still find Fiji mechanic and speak English and Hindi and know a lot of traditional things from India. The others, the Polynesians are the natives from neighboring islands such as Fiji or Tonga, Cook Islands and Tahiti. They speak usually fluent in English and of course their own language.
sat on the plane I find an Indian in Fiji, with which I'm almost a little got talking and I asked a few questions about my future trip. Since I wanted the bus to Natadola, it seemed in handy that he wanted in the same direction. So we agreed to wait us out at one another. Since he had to wait longer at the Passport control I've ever want to withdraw money from cash machines. Ha. Think again my stupid card was swallowed. comdirect not really get their act together. Because of my card is unlocked. Fortunately, I'm still loyal Haspa customer. Our flight about 1.5 hours Was late because a dog at the airport in Auckland was locked in the boot and brought out only once had, it was getting a bit too close to the bus to Natadola. A taxi would cost 70 Fiji dollars, which would be about 30 €. My neighbor from the plane, he means the way, Atish (on Iranian and Indian means the fire, there are many words that have inide the same meaning as in Iran), luckily I had a few friends in the vicinity of the airport, it have gone: and have picked me and us to the bus station from Nadi (pronounced Nandi). Once there are then separated our ways, as he is with his friends then drove on to Suva and I took the bus to Natadola. The bus has then cost measly € 1.50, so I saved almost 30 €. Once in the vicinity of Natadola But once I knew not where. Fortunately, another passenger also got out and told me that I take a taxi from here again, since the walk is too dark and too long. All Ridings he also said that a property with at least Natadola 100FD (Fiji dollars). Oh ha, I did not want to spend so much. When we then asked a taxi driver if he knows something cheaper, he has suggested to me that I can not just stay with him. What? But surely that is what lazy. I asked him where he lives and he said 2 minutes from here. I told him then that I would rather close to the beach, I will tomorrow morning on the beach. No problem, he said, I'll drive you to the beach tomorrow. What? Will rob me but determined. Crap, what do I do. The taxi driver was a Hindi and 50 years old. I asked myself what would it cost and he said whatever I give him also. He also told me that stupid amount of money in the hotel would spend if I can have it all with him. Oh man. I had read that the Fijians are very friendly. Tyron and I was in Auckland already said that I should necessarily a homestay (ie stay with locals) make, since it is much cooler. I've then again briefly at the types erkundugt off the bus and he said I need not worry. All right, I'm on a world tour and because it is sometimes also a risk or an adventure. So we went to his house. His wife was lying on the couch and has watched television. Quite surprised by my arrival, she has gone straight to the guest room set up and teach me. Wow, my own room, even with a teddy bear on the bed. I guess it was a kid, that was not used now because the daughter has moved out. On the way home I was Bably (so probably all call him) asked if I have a mind to come along to a ceremony. Sure, why not, I not usually know where to go. So we have the same with his car went there, waited out his cousins and brothers. Now came the moment when I expected the worst. Which I have gone forth, so they can eat me alone and before that it will still be a ceremony. And in the meantime, the woman searched my clothes in a backpack. You know that there were cannibals in Fiji earlier and perhaps have some of those still in the blood. Suddenly I have seen children, probably the children of the cousins. Hmm ... which I would never before the children get ready? Stay calm. It's all under control.
Then one of them composed of a large rice sacks stitched mat spread on the floor and all have sat on the floor. I look around me. Where is the big pot, where is the long spear of the trailers I will. Hmm .. nothing to see. Suddenly we all go into the house. Oh oh ... I knew it, it happens behind closed doors. It was more of a small hut as a house. Interior hung everywhere pictures of Indian gods. If the now give all their blessings to the cannibalism. Then I will sit down again and all beat up their hands and begin to pray. I knew it ... now, the gods demand. But then all grab an instrument (drum, triangle ,...) and start to sing and make music. Wow, what is now, then? Not bad, sounds good. Suddenly a very good mood, all the kids look at me and laugh and it does absolutely not look like I was on the menu. Puuuhhh already ... I felt better and was sung and prayed for about 1h. Then we all set out again on the mat and ate fruit and little talk. I spoke about my stay in India and in the monastery us, they told me about their ancestors.
Actually, I thought he evening was over, as Bably and I then drove back home, but some have come along by his cousins and friends and we with him on the porch set and they have kava (a traditional drink of Fiji, a powder made from roots and mixed with water) was prepared. In Fiji kava is drunk very often. We sit together, the dish goes into the series and discusses louder useless things. Often, of course, in the round of men who might otherwise say useless things. But kava is not just a drink, it has that is also a soothing and a little drowsiness. It is not a drug, because it is also used as medicines, but after a few small bowls will be very chillig and quite slow in its pronunciation. Since we were so determined for 3-4 hours and talked about any and enjoyed the evening. Simply wonderful. That's what I would have expected for a homestay and I get it. At the end of the evening I took a shower and Bably has still insisted that I eat something. So he sent his wife into the kitchen and she gave me a few things done hot (Chicken curry, fish, rice and even an ice cream for dessert). You feel it the same as in nuts.
I slept like a baby and woke up at 7.30am. Bably was already awake and we had a coffee together. I had told him the evening before, that I would like to Robinson Cruseo island and he can play his contacts, so I got there an advantage get. His proposal was that we go together to the Natadola beach, have breakfast there and then he me to the boat sells offshoot, that brings me to the island. Unfortunately, it was a rainy day and the Natadola beach has not really given away what he would have otherwise. Despite all Bably, his wife, who had accompanied us, and ventured to the beach and there a picnic did. His wife had very fresh fish prepared in the morning, we must have given a small snack. Bably then has insisted that we drink a beer together. Ok, it's a bit tasty early, but with the fish I drink like a beer at 9am in the morning. The next two hours we have ourselves comfortable on a blanket made and talked about many things. Bably and his wife have made sure repeatedly that everything would be fine and I would be missing something. That was really remarkable. Such hospitality I've experienced before. Even the Iranians, who are known for their hospitality, would come to wonder. At boot offshoot we then adopted Bably has given me his address and number and told me that he can pick you up again if it did not like his door and always there for me, or my friends or parents and family would be open. I was to his wife and see it as second parents, and he regarded me as another son. With so much heat I could not help but find the literal and a little financially to thank them. With the 40FD, which for me were 16 € time was more valuable than not to forget, and in any case.

The trip on the boat to Robinson Cruseo Iceland was accompanied by heavy showers. Unfortunately the weather for the rest of the day has not changed, so it was a pretty dismal first day in Fiji. To this was added that the island and on it located Resort are very nice in itself, but the water on the coast is very dirty and dark, as the nearby river a lot of dirt is washed into the ocean and hang on the coast of the island remains . So I had already decided on yet a rainy day to leave the island again. The day itself was spent with a few intinsiven hours of reading and relaxing in the hammock. In the evening we had visitors from the mainland to the island, a dinner, which serves breakfast and lunch and every night for us was determined, and a pretty good show from the Inselanimatueren. Traditional Fijian dance and fire shows, and lots of good-mood music. Late in the evening, the rain then eased somewhat luckily, and after the visitors had again left the island, were the so-called Islander, so all have slept on the island, again among themselves. To my surprise, 90% of either England, Ireland or Scotland. As they then have begun to start English drinking games, I've just joined this. Although the mood was quite ok, but I can not understand why people stay again among themselves. You drive but not so far away to make English drinking games and to talk only with his English friends. Since you can still stay at home. Unfortunately, this is usually the sogennaten Hostel mentality and we see again and again small groups. To my Frusttration many were by the English, nor from the north, with an impossible to-understand accent. Please also be repeated twice her words I understood not a word. It was fortunate that I do not speak Brit English. Wicked, I just say. Since it seemed to me quite was located, that the island hosts have kept a small kava round, to which I joined. When it was time then the music in the Pirates Night Club (a small hut dance to) off, was already another Fiji-Boy at the start, which has brought out his guitar and sang many songs. A hook was the thing but still. Almost all of his songs were from Oasis, Boyzone, Take That or the Beatles, so again only as a Brit-Shit, apart from the Beatles. I would love to have heard more songs Fiji. Bloody Brit Bastards can say is. ;-)
Fortunately, the next morning was sunny, so I decided one day have to stay longer here, because the price / performance ratio very good. For 50FD there was a hotel in 30-bed room (an elongated bungalow with lots of bunk beds) and three meals. The day, however, was not bathing in the sea, but with a spent sunbathing on the beach. Around noon, I had also the last page of "The White Tiger" finished reading a really good book. Since then I really got into reading mood I was like my new, good time at the airport in Auckland auctioned book by Paulo Coelho "The Alchemist" and brought out in the hammock at sunset on reading. Unfortunately I only managed 20Page as it then was dinner time and then a traditional kava ceremony to welcome all newcomers as well as various fun games Iceland were on the program.
from the day I am pretty tired disappears at around midnight from the boring British conversations about Big Brother, the Beckhams and any other would-be stars.
have the next morning I took the first boat back and am using the bus drove back to Nadi to take it from there or from a ferry port Denerau to Bounty Iceland. Bounty Iceland is only 20 minutes away from the mainland and an ideal place to relax. No party, no loud music, but absolute relaxation. Hopefully the weather stays as sunny as the morning. When I wanted to book the ferry and the accommodation, I had to experience that the next boat stores only at 15h, wasbedeutet added that I had to sell my time about 4h. Fortunately there was a small shopping street, where I have a bit of kava powder purchased as souvenirs and various postcards. Since I knew that "The Alchemist" has only about 170 pages, I was thinking the same also purchased the next book on my wish to continue to learn from the great writers of the world and possibly one or other resources for my own style aufzugteifen book. My choice was this time on "Thousand Splendid Suns" by Khaled Hosseini, author of bestseller The Kite Runner. This book of his is a new best seller and if you believe the opinions of the critics even better than the Kite Runner. The story is of an Afghan girl who comes as harimi "(Bastard) on the world and finds its way into the world. When I had a premonition that I would have much time for reading, the ferry has not arrived after 20 minutes on Bounty Iceland, but simply drove by to take out permit until all other passengers on the more northerly islands such as Castaway, Mana, or Beachcomber to me then rauzuschmeissen on the return trip as the only passenger in Bounty. So the trip has not 20min, but lasted 3h. No wonder why I had to pay 50 € for a round trip. Thus kan, that I had read to the 3h "The Alchemist" and did not help many other islands have seen the Mamanuca Island group.
Bounty was even really a feast for the eyes. A small cozy resort, a beautiful beach and wonderful water. So I lost no time and I immediately threw the sunset once again into the water.
were in a Dormitory, once again the English, what else, but since we were only four people in a large room, it was very pleasant. The dinner was not as tasty as Cruseo on Robinson, but has still fulfilled its purpose. When it then sang a few songs were welcome, the Fiji-feeling was again fully there. Besides the few traveling alone, many couples were on the island. The highlight of the evening was then Spin the bottle contest, get a drink in which the winner has donated. Hey, since there was nothing, I'm still the same here. As the only man I had to also keep our honor high. The remaining participants were of course all of England and a fatter than the other. Sorry if I say now so, but they have determined every day at home eating chips and cheese and never used the water for swimming. One of my roommates, rose from London, had also vigorously seeking to dinner butter smeared on bread. Yum Yum ... now she weighs 131Kg determined, instead of 130, no joke, which had 130, it determines on the balance. Okay, back to the competition, I am my own I can not the slim, but if one of the drink would be entitled, but then me, the girls have enough calories intus. And as if it was a chosen destiny, the last in the round I was, as all others had been kicked out of the bottle. Hurrah, give me the Bounty Cha Cha Cocktail.
After the cocktail was then layer in the shaft. Almost all were already in bed, though it was just before eleven, but that is dependent on a more relaxing selected island. I was right, because I could put my alarm clock on 5.30Uhr to time for the dawn to sit by the pool and watch the beautiful natural phenomenon. Then, a few deposits in the ocean swimming and a trip around the island on foot, so that it is contrary 7.30am Breakfast was. On Tuesday I had to take up yet again to the Nadi Airport and 22h to my flight to Los Angelas. So I have the rest of the day until 16h, when the boat is placed back exploited. Kayaking and snorkeling was a good change from the wonderful barbecue hours on the sun deck. My body is now back crunchy brown and I could even pass for a native ;-)
At the airport there was unfortunately a power outage, so that the passengers had to be checked after an hour of helpless waiting with manual tickets and thus the departure to 2h belated. The interesting thing is that I departed shortly after midnight on March 25 by and I arrived at 15h local time on March 24 in Los Angelas. For my well-known in Los Angelas all expected that you will read it in the next few days. Only now have fun with the pictures.
