49.Day - Discovering the Vietnam War

When we were up 4.30Uhr off the train, I offered the boys with me to take a taxi together, so that we can save money. I have also recommended them to stay there, where I was already 4 days before. Since this hotel was fully booked already, they have another near taken, which, however, was outside of my budget, so I'm to fall back on another one with less luxury. However, we have filed jointly for the Cu Chi tunnel tour, which should begin at 8.30am, so we went and scheduled the next half-day together. Until then, everyone was able to lie down for about an hour and make up for the little bit of sleep, which he might not get on the train.
The trip to the Cu Chi tunnel took about 2.5 hours, as we move even stopped at a factory, where all sorts of accessories and decorative items were produced for the budget and we have not received an insight into the individual production steps. The Cu Chi Tunnels are the said underground routes and spaces that did the Viet Cong in the Vietnam War and have built not only used as an escape from the Americans, but also skilled in strategic attacks. Not without Reason, the Communist Part of Vietnam from the north with the help of the Viet Cong, who came from the south, but were never anti-American Building, win the war and in 1975 a unified communist Vietnam. Apart from patriotic American films me the story of the war was not so aware, so that I've listened very curious, as the guide had us in our bus filled the long journey with lots of information. At the Cu Chi tunnels even had the opportunity to get insight into the design and the use of the different rooms and levels. Namely, the tunnels were divided into three different levels, so that one could also withstand the attack of B52 bombs without problems. For Weddings the war have about 16,000 Viet Cong lived in the tunnels, some of them more than a year without seeing the earth's surface. How close and small, these tunnels could be felt in his own body in which you dove into the tiny inputs or 30m was usually hunched walk through the tunnel. Who else was keen on it then could fire at a shooting range on weapons. For me as a community service came naturally out of the question. In between, we could still eat a type of yam, which then feeds the Viet Cong has, since rice and other foods were not always get.
have arrived back in Saigon, the three Americans and I are on the way the War Museum did what you should not miss if you're in Saigon. Even if the sight of so much cruelty does not really humor, it is a piece of history, which is incorrect with regard to other war policies (such as Iraq or Palestine) should not ignore. The museum of course also depends on the photo of Kim Phuc, or better known as "The Girl in the Picture", speaking of the little nine year old girl who was severely injured in a false napalm attack on their own people and by the photo of Nick Ut became world famous. The same book I had bought recently and have also nearly finished. Know more about the Vietnam war and wants to know the story of this photo and the girl who I can this work by Denise Chong highly recommend it.
After we had seen first but then once enough of the war, we walked through the streets of Saigon and have made along the Saigon River to Ben Thanh Market. Unfortunately, he was as good as closed, so that we do not come in the full enjoyment, but Ryan (one of the Americans) and I have discovered that had opened around the market, a night market, where they are strolling something gone. Of the three Americans Ryan I was like best, so we exchanged email addresses and Facebook by determined to stay in touch. Maybe I get it even in Los Angeles to face, because he lives when not studying in Singapore.
Back at our lodgings were suddenly two other Singapore students in front of the hotel by Ryan and Co. as the latter does not quite spend so much wanted, I Harrison and Adam put them in my hotel, where she double room rate only 12 $ instead of $ 30 had to spend. We then identified the same a time for dinner and after a short respite before we hit the Go2 Bar. There you will meet the majority of backpackers who have three floors to choose between bar, club and restaurant on the top floor. Our We had lunch with a pretty tasty BBQ, in which the meat itself on Table had a barbecue. There was also an offer of "buy one get one free" for all types of beer and so a beer costs only 40 cents. The overnight train ride Strenuous the night before, and the long marches through the Cu Chi Tunnels and Saigon, the center will make all of us have not really old at this evening, so we said goodbye at midnight and each has made his way home.
